Mobi AnimaLamp Review

Looking for a cute light for your child for their homework, bedside reading, or for a car ride? Mobi's AnimaLamp is a popular, and adorable, light for your child to bring with them and use wherever they go. These lights (which come in a giraffe, monkey, and bunny) work without being plugged in for up to 8-12 hours per charge and have a touchable light control which can brighten and dim the light.

Here is the light in a closed position.  It stands on it's own and when the light is on in it's closed position, it is a perfect nightlight for your child.

The 'heads' of the AnimaLamp tilt to provide the right angle and lighting to your child's task.  You touch the button to turn on and off the light and holding it will adjust the brightness in the 12 LED lights.

Some of the other uses I thought of are using it for piano lessons, in the outside playhouse, nighttime nursing and diaper changing, in our dark closet or under the bed, and more.  The thing I love the most is not having to always have this cute kid's lamp plugged in, it can seriously go anywhere with me and last a long time without being plugged in. I also love how sturdy it is, and light for kids to carry and bring around.

Perfect task lighting for Lucie who wanted to play with the AnimaLamp. These cute lights have been awarded the Mom's Choice Gold, NAPPA Gold and National Parenting Center Seal of Approval awards.

Buttons Cloth Diapers Giveaway

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell you diapers are expensive! It's amazing how much money diapers for your little one cost, Wiki estimated that kids go through about 4,500-5,000 diapers before their potty trained... dang! That's a lot of money, instead, it could cost as little as $240 with Buttons Diapers.

What I love about cloth diapers, and why I want to use for this baby, is the amount of money you save.  Buttons Cloth Diapers have affordable prices for their cloth diapers which snap into place and have elastic around the legs and tummy for a comfortable and custom fit.  The diapers are one-size to fit babies from 9-35 lbs and are made of 2 layers of wipe-able, waterproof PUL, with double leg gussets.  You can also use snap-in inserts, made from absorbent microfiber with soft moisture-wicking fleece on top, for a quick and easy diaper change as well.

So enter below, giveaway ends July 1, 2013 and winner chooses the color they like.

Must-have items vs. good-to-have for babies

As a first time mom, registering for baby items is difficult because it's hard to know what I need right away or later, and what are must have items and ok to have.
When looking at baby registries, I found this awesome list on Babies R Us about what are essentials to have for your baby and what would be good to have.

24 Weeks Pregnancy Chalkboard

24 weeks! Next chalkboard picture I'll take I'll be in my third trimester which is crazy! And I'm sure you have noticed the frame is now blue which matches the nursery pretty well, but I might paint it lighter. I still wake up many times each night, but I've had less pain in my hips and have an awesome body pillow (with a gel forming thing) which is my lifesaver... Along with a pillow under my head, one under my hips, the body pillow, and a king size pillow for when I turn the other direction. It does take up a lot of the bed so my husband has had to wake me up some nights because he's about to be pushed off :) (I'm so sorry love). During the night I've had some bad dreams, but nothing too terrible (besides once). I try not to watch or read anything too scary before going to bed which has helped, I can get a good 10 hours of sleep right now (waking up but can fall back asleep in a heartbeat) and a power nap during the day which I'm so grateful for because I know it won't always be like that.

Still feeling awesome, I've slowed down a lot and have to do less and usually am way hot.  It's harder to bend so sometimes I'll drop somethings and have a trail and wait for my husband to come home to pick it up because I can't get all of them.

Inches: 12 inches larger around belly
How I've used my time: redecorating the nursery, helping to paint the hutch for the baby room, quiet book for church
Cravings: Nothing particular, just weird combinations of foods. Oh, and snowies are amazing.
Other facts: Achy and slowing down a lot (the sales people at the mall know to go for me because I can't get away fast enough). I can barely fit in most of my "regular non-pregnancy" clothes

How to decrease swelling during pregnancy

So far in my pregnancy I haven't been swollen (which I am so grateful for).  I'm only a little over halfway so there is a huge possibility it will still happen (doctors say some swelling is completely normal).  Here are some tips from American Pregnancy Association of how to prevent your body from swelling up like a balloon:

  • avoid standing for long periods
  • minimize outdoor time when it is hot
  • rest with your feet elevated
  • wear comfortabe shoes, avoid wearing high heels if possible
  • wear supportive tights or stockings
  • avoid clothes that are tight around your wrists or ankles
  • rest or swim in a pool
  • use cold compresses on swollen areas
  • drink water, which helps flush the body and reduce water retention
  • minimize sodium (salt)
