How to Paint Ikea Ung Drill Frame

I wrote an article the other week about where you can use the Ikea Ung Drill Frames. I decided to go and buy one of this adorable frames from Ikea and paint it to use it for a Easter display. I chose a beige color which turned out so good! Here are the steps I took to paint it.

First, here is the frame at Ikea. It is in the framing section and was $29.99, came only in black, and was 23 ¼ " x 33 ½ ".

I bought spray paint from Hobby Lobby to paint the frame and I didn't need a brush or anything else. It was easy to pop out the glass and backing and I laid the frame on top of newspaper.

When I started spray painting. I would go over a section and it was really neat because the black would show through in the cracks. You can do that but I decided to go over the frame three times and in all of the cracks to make it one color.

So here is what the Ung Drill frame looked like with one layer of spray paint. There was a cool vintage feel but since the colors were really contrasting I kept putting on more coats of spray paint.

Here is what it looked like up close after one coat.

After three coats I was happy how it looked even though there were still slightly darker areas (compared to the beige) if you look close.

After three coats I let it dry really well because there are many small pockets where the paint took longer to dry.

I took this picture with my phone but here is is placed over our console table for Easter. We have two pictures of the Savior and a picture of our family. In the frame (which doesn't have the glass or backing in this picture) I was going to have "He Is Risen" in the center. Definitely will do that for next year.

And here is the newly painted frame up close with cute Luc and Bryn. It turned out so cute, definitely excited for family pictures, parties, and to frame some of our favorite pictures!

Spring Baby Shower Idea

Chic & Cheap Nursery posted these pictures of this amazing baby shower. I love it's name "Spring Baby Shower Soiree" and how everything is bright and there is so much attention to detail. Look at this ruffled cake. Ruffle cakes have become so popular recently and there are instructions online on how to make the icing ruffles, or you can go to a local baker who might be able to create something like this.

For this baby shower you can find pinks, greens, and yellows. For creating a baby shower 'table display' like this where everyone grabs their food you want to create different heights. You can see there is a tall branch in the back and the two cakes are on stands with a wrapped package underneath. The cupcake stand gives more height along with some of the other accessories. There are medium height objects, such as the grapes and gumballs and then there are lower items like the cookies, banner, and favors. Creating different levels will create great look for your baby shower food table.

Such a cute sign. Think of some cute entry sign you can have for your upcoming baby shower. The sign can be by itself, on a wreath, in a frame or whatever you would like.

There are so many cute favors that you can buy or create yourself. For this baby shower they placed candies in mason jars with fabric under the seal. You can always have companies print out customized candies, stickers, or wrappers with the baby's name or due date to create customized favors like you see on the last picture (filled with mini cupcakes and a sticker).

This room makes me feel like I'm at a ball game, there are so just so many possibilities of decor you can place in your nursery. The border at the top of the wall is covered with soccer balls, baseball, footballs, and basketballs. Custom Baby Name Alphabet

I have seen custom baby name alphabets EVERYWHERE and they are so cute to say the least. They are perfect especially as a baby shower gift so this framed artwork can hang, or be on a shelf in a baby nursery. These first two signs are from Etsy HuntersPlace and are two completely different designs. The first has a white background with rainbow lettering (baby name in the middle) and the last one is more colorful with more of a jumbled alphabet with the baby name on the bottom.

These baby name alphabet graphics are from AlleyKids at Etsy. I love the white border around this first graphic and the name right in the middle. There are so many possibilities from placement of letters and name, the colors, font, etc. The second graphic is like what you would see in a school with the upper and lower case letters and is bright and colorful.

These next two graphics are from Etsy DoodleGraphics. I love the colors with this first baby boy's alphabet and look how they cleverly placed Williams name on a angle and at the bottom.

Here is a basic font and alphabet. I like the format though, and the name really stands out at the bottom.

Choosing a Colorful Crib

Today you can choose from tons of crib colors and don't need to stick with just white, black, or a brown wood color. If you want to find something more unique and playful, look at some colorful options to see if it is something you should purchase.

Here is an adorable pink crib. It looks good with a taupe colored wall, a pink wall would be way too much pink for me. It's interested how the sides of the cribs have the same fabric as the bed sheets. From: http://littlecrowninteriors.com

Even though this color is not too colorful, I still wouldn't consider it one of the traditional crib colors (black, white, and wood brown). You can choose different shades of browns or grays to make the crib different but stay more safe with the color. From: http://www.literaturesoft.com

Here are some cute teal/turquoise cribs. Turquoise is a popular color now and this would be a cute option for our cute baby.
