12 days TO Christmas

Yeah yeah I know the title is different but Chris and I are doing "12 days of Christmas" for the last 12 days until the big day. We are doing small acts of service throughout these 12 days to focus on others.
We have some ideas for the next few days, some we will just do small acts of kindness toward eachother or family or whoever.
Christmas story of the day: "A Bright Shining Star" by President Monson during the Christmas devo.

"There is no better time than now, this very Christmas season, for all of us to rededicate ourselves to the principles taught by Jesus the Christ. Let it be a time that lights the eyes of children and puts laughter on their lips. Let it be a time for lifting the lives of those who live in loneliness. Let it be a time for calling our families together, for feelings a closeness to those who are near to us and a closeness also to those who are absent.

Let it be a time of prayers for peace, for the preservation of free principles, and for the protection of those who are far from us. Let it be a time of peace because we have found peace in His teachings.

Most of all, let it be a time to remember the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and the worship of the Wise Men."

Holiday Centerpiece

It makes me mad these pictures do the table no justice. Everything glows when we have the Christmas tree on and the chandelier. Here is the China that we got from our wedding. It is beautiful! It's white with these silver designs that you can see really well in this lighting.
The 'holly' stuff in the middle of the plate I will wrap around napkins, I found them at Hobby Lobby 50cents.

I found this wreath thing at Hobby Lobby 50% off, it really is a large candleholder. I placed it around the glass vase and filled it with silver pinecones and berries. Dang so hard to see.

Temple Square Lights

This year we went up to Salt Lake to see the lights. We went early to go to Pottery Barn where the SLC location had 10% off the whole store, and since we registered there, we get an additional 10% off of everything, so I definitely wanted to take up the opportunity.
Before we went up, Chris said we should make it into a whole date night and go somewhere for dinner. We were going to Outback with a giftcard, but there wasn’t any by us so we went to Chili’s.

We started going to Temple Square and of course it started raining. We grabbed some hot chocolate to warm us up, but then we drove around FOREVER to find a parking spot. We went around, saw one of those horse-drawn carriages back up into a car, and around and finally found a spot.

I don’t think we were supposed to park there, so we ran into the grounds and did the quickest few laps around the temple because we didn’t want to get a ticket, and that wet. Hahah. Fun date night adventure. Here are some of our pictures from this year:

Making Ornaments Part 1

So I found out I say the word 'ornament' wrong. Chris finally told me, and I never knew it. Anyway this year I'm working on some ornaments. I found these at Pottery Barn for $8 and decided to make my own with the Cricut.

PEARSON ORNAMENTS I'VE MADE SO FAR

I got found a small thing of black vinyl I already had. I used my Cricut to cut out these letter P and put them on the glass bulbs I got 50% off at Hobby Lobby for $3.

Got some red vinyl and cut out different sayings for Christmas that are hanging on our tree

Gingerbread Houses

Each Christmas the Pearsons make Gingerbread houses. I made one last year and we combined our efforts this year which was good because we shaved off a few hours.

Our move… Frosted Mini Wheats for the roof. The original plan was that Chris would design the roof (he makes the best ones every year J ) and I would do the landscape, we were short of land so we combined efforts.

Rosette Wreaths

We decided to make our own and it turned out like this:
We bought the materials from Hobby Lobby. The wreath was $2.50, and we bought 1/8 yard strips of fabric (3 different kinds), and some beaded pearls which you can find in the floral section.

Next, we cut the fabric strips into pieces 3 inches by 20 inches. We then would wrap them to make rosettes.
We laid out the flowers then glued them with a hot glue gun. I then got pearls and wrapped them under the twigs and flowers. This is a close-up of my work. It was so much fun!
