Tips for framing

One of our wedding pictures all framed from Hobby Lobby!
What I learned about framing a picture:
* custom framing usually is more expensive than just buying a frame
* buying glass is separate and comes in glossy and unglossy
* many times if you buy a frame the store can frame it (put it all together for free)
* large mats for the mating costs can cost under $10, you can either do it yourself or each cut costs you a certain amount
* Hobby Lobby has good picture frame deals and you can always use a coupon
* the store can add the wire hooks and backing on the back for really cheap so you don't need to. I paid $5 for three backing then $1 for the wirehook they put on for me
* when choosing a color for your frame it matters if the picture looks good in a frame, but even more important in my opinion that it looks good but matches the rooms and decor you have in your place
*choose the frame before the matting
* Chris says most implortantly you need to look god in your picture. Jk

Pearson Sign

I've had this sign for a while that I wanted to put my new last name. I bought the sign at Roberts and I used brown vinyl for the letters which I made with my Cricut.
After making the letters, you need to make sure to put the letters even. I used a ruler to make sure the bottom of all of the letters were even

Auld Lang Syne and making goals

I've always liked the song Auld Lang Syne. It came from a Scottish poem and we sing it in honor of these new year. It translates to "old long ago" and I love thinking about it as remembering good days from the past and new beginnings for the future in letting bygones be bygones.
I also love making goals. The new year is a great time to write down some things you want to accomplish this following year. When making goals I recommend an important consept that I learned in my leadership classes. When making goals I learned to put a number with it. So instead of writing "going to the gym" you would put a value to it and say "go to the gym twice a week". You could do other values like a certain grade point you're trying to achieve, how many hours you need to put into something a week, amount of money you want to save each month, specific ways in which to serve others, etc.
Do you see how your goals can change by having this number value? Making goals with a numeric value can make your goal be measurable and over time you can see how you are doing.

Making baby hats for the hospital

Starting December 1st, I started making baby hats that I could take to the hospital during the Christmas season.
When I was in young womens, one of the projects I chose wad making baby hats for premie babies bc a lot of times they are too tiny for regular clothes and have to wear baby doll clothes or clothes that don't fit.
A lady that was in our ward and worked w these premies at the nearby hospital told me about this. I made a bunch of tiny baby hats for them.
This year, Chris came w me to the store and helped me pick out yarn to make the hats. I already had the supplies (i used a knitting circle thing for the hats), and made cute hats, many of which were Christmasy colors. I started to work on them everyday, but I couldn't keep that up the whole month but I ended up still making some really cute hats.
Chris' bday is Christmas Eve and he helped me drop them off to a hospital, I went to the top floor and delivered them to the Nicu place for these tiny little babies. The ladies thought they were so cute and asked for my info so they could write me a letter. I told them it was ok bc I didn't make them to get a letter or anything out of it.
When leaving I noticed some dads or other family members leaving with worried looks on
their faces, I was just glad I could make something cute for those little babies born around christmas time to keep them warm.

Stocking stuffer idea

This year we did something fun with putting stockings together for each other. We got an idea from a friend, but we went to Target and for 20 minutes we spent $20 on fun little things.
It was more difficult than it seemed but it was fun going around finding things for each other. Sometimes we would pass each other our see them coming and take a quick detor. Ha it was a lot of fun.

Married 100 days

So this last week we've been married 100 days! To celebrate we tried to take 100 pics thoughout the day. It ended up being less than that but it was fun to do and to be w each other.
I can't believe it has been that long! It's so much fun spending all my time w my best friend.

10 Days TO Christmas

We've been doing our kind deeds throughout the day, it's made my mind very conscious of how many kinds things we might do during the day but don't noticed. Being in a mindset to serve and be kind to others makes me realize how little things really can brighten someone's day.

IDEAS: Saying hi to everyone, talking or sitting by someone who is by themselves or who you might not usually talk to, opening a door, writing a thank you note, taking inititive with a situation, calling someone you haven't talked with in a while, making the bed for roommate or spouse, drop extra goodies at someone's place, do something for the needy.

There are so many things we can do and do not take a lot of time. Being conscious about our surroundings and serving others this week has definitely helped widen my perspective in showing even more love to others. You should try it out too, writing it down and talking about it with my spouse has been even better.

Christmas song of the day: I don't know why, but I've heard the "Little Drummer Boy" song a billion times already this season. Ha, when I was little I thought the song was in French because I could never understand the song.

Something that has touched me when I have listened to the words, is that the Drummer Boy was "a poor boy too" and didn't have a gift to bring so he played his drums. Whether we are rich or poor we need to realize we always have something to give whether it be time, money, goodies, or our talents. Sometimes we don't realize how our talents can touch or inspire the lives of others.

Like the little drummer boy we can use our talents to worship and show love toward the Savior as we understand and share them with others.
