such a great time. Here we are excited
to hit the ski slopes!
We met up nice and early so we could hit the slopes and since I haven't gone in forever, I took a ski class with my colleage James. We didn't know it was like a beginner- beginner class because they taught the way basics like how to put on your skis, this is a chairlift etc. We were surprised how quickly we got back into the swing of things. I liked our instructor and he did give me some good tips of things that were a bad habit for me when I ski.
We met up for lunch with the team at the Last Chance Mining Camp and enjoyed some great burgers and stories from the morning. Afterward, we all went further up the ski mountain and enjoyed some great powder.

Valentines Day Sign
Cute!!!!! My college roommate Jessie made some cute 'Love' signs for Valentines Day so I framed some in a different way which turned out so cute!!!!
I cut out letters out of shiny red paper with my cricut, bought the frames at Michaels (5 frames for $10), I love the love poem paper in the background and black lace from Hobby Lobby. You put the lace differently which I might change, but I'm glad it turned out cute.

Rockabye Baby
I found these mobiles at JC Penny and boy are they cute. They both play Brahms Lullabys and my favorite is their design and how they look. I could see this pink mobile be placed in either a white or dark brown crib. This mobile in a white crib would draw attention to this pink mobile which would make it stand out more. A dark crib would tie in well with the mobile as well because of the browns in the mobile and the color of pink which works well with a dark brown.
This blue/grey mobile below would look good with both a white and dark colored crib as well but I would love this in a chocolate brown crib with flowy light grey window curtains. Maybe a chevron rug underneath and other dark furniture in the room as well.

Sunday Thoughts: Do More of What Makes You Happy
At the beginning of the year I stepped back to see what things I was missing out on or what I should be doing in my life. I found a few things that I wanted to add into my life and made a few changes to make those things happen. Whether you need to find another job, make more time for someone, or time for a fun habit try to make it happen. It probably won't unless you make time for it.
On a similar note, some things that we might focus on to make us happy might be for more selfish purposes. I like this following quote that lets us realize the many great things we have in our lives and how we need to recognize that we have so much, and in many cases... enough.

Sounds that animals make in different languages
In high school, I took Japanese for a year and LOVED it. I took Spanish for seven years and can get by, but am not fluent at all at it (ask my husband how I tried to communicate when we went to Cancun). So anyway, I might be at the same level for both haha but I remember extremely random things from Japanese... like the sounds that Japanese animals make.
It came up in conversation with my boss today who found it hilarious and I looked up some more of the Japanese animal noises.
Rooster:
kokekokko
コケコッコー
(Cock-a-doodle-doo)
Mouse:
chuu chuu
チューチュー
Cat:
nyaa nyaa
ニャーニャー
(meow)
Pig:
buu buu
ブーブー
(oink)
Sheep:
mee mee
メーメー
(baa baa)
Dog:
wan wan
ワンワン
(woof, bark)
And my favorite, the frog:
kero kero
ケロケロ
(ribbit)

Sunday Thoughts: Trials
EVERYONE is going through some kind of trial in one form or another. We need to give people the benefit of the doubt because you never truly know what is going on in their lives. For our trials in our lives, we can't let them slow or weigh us down. Chris and I have had our share of trials this last year, but we have decided to have goals to bring us closer to the Lord and have thought of ways to serve others and have the 'spirit of charity' where we develop in ourselves to listen to the spirit how we can help others, put others first, always give. This has changed our attitudes from self pity, to forgetting our trials because we are focused on the future and what it holds. How we can be better and have these trials make us BETTER NOT BITTER.
Are your trials weighing you down, different trials can affect people so differently and some might be harder than others. But turn your life over to the Lord and see how He can help guide you through this trial. There will be different seasons of our lives, some will be nice and sunny and some will be winter storms, but we can get through all of them with the help of the Lord.
On a similar note, we shouldn't make fun or judge people for what they don't have. There was a couple in front of us one Sunday who was making fun and taking pictures of a man at church because of the way he appeared and was dressed. Recently, I have seen that man walk to and from work/ school everyday so he can support his family. He is doing the best he can, maybe they don't have the means or a car to help him in that regard but that is not for us to make fun of. You never know someone's whole situation. We are all brothers and sisters and we need to be there to support eachother, not to tear down.

I Won the WICKED Lottery
YES!!! We won tickets to Wicked the musical. The musical had been sold out for a while but you could enter in a drawing 2.5 hours before every performance to see if you could be one of the 10 lucky winners. Friday night we went to the Detroit Opera House. We waited in line and there were over 100 people. They drew names 2 hours till the show and... our names were not called. We went down again on Saturday morning for one last time (that was the shows last day). All seven of us put in our names with 80+ people and.... TWO OF OUR NAMES WERE DRAWN. Each ticket gives you 2 tickets so it was Me, Chris, Mom, and Jane.
Here I am before the performance. I loved all of the backdrops. We had decent seats for $25.
Going to the 'D'
We are BACK!!! We had a great time in Michigan. We went the week after Christmas and had a great time with my family. Here are some of the highlights:
Going to Somerset. It is so pretty and all dressed up for the holidays. This is the three-story Santa Castle.
The puppets hang from the ceiling and many are over 15 feet tall.
Here we are in front of our house before Bella would jump all over us. Of course most of the things we wore were black and Bella is white so she shed all over us.

Here she is! She liked this bow and Chris would chase her around and she loved it. Oh, the first morning we were there I left our room to use the restroom, Bella had snuck into the room and onto the bed and was so excited to see Chris that she wizzed all over the bed and somehow on his pillow!!!!
My favorite men. They went to a Pistons game together one night.
We also went to the Detroit Temple which was great.

We went to the Henry Ford Museum to show Chris all kinds of cars... but the exhibit was closed! Bummer. So we saw some other cool things....
Oh, we did go to the closed section once so Chris could get a picture with this Ford GT

Sunday Thoughts: New Year For Making Goals
I am a goal setter. I love making goals so I can see how much I have improved or grown, to get further in life, to be a better person, to make good habits that need to be a part of me. I make goals at the beginning of each year personally and with Chris to help us accomplish the things I mentioned above. Some things take more discipline or are harder to attain than others, but at least I am going somewhere and getting better. I rather have goals and fall short than not having any goals that get me nowhere.
Here are some more encouraging words for making goals this year:
